Annnaconda Adventure Race Nov 2012

Posted by robjwall on November 15, 2012

Thanks a lot to all those who came down and competed with The Freo Adventure (racing) Team  at Augusta last weekend in the annual “Annaconda”.  I think we all had a great time (if the look on Alfie’s face is anything to go by)  and I think we all did better than we thought in the racing.  We even had enough in the tank to make a reasonable showing at the pub on Sunday night :).
Thanks a lot for Jack for stepping up and into the cold water when I screwed up meeting our replacement swimmer in FART A & also to David for filling in for Rachael when her Achiles flared up!
Thanks to Ewen and Liz for this photo.
Alfie Wall ran most of the Jnr Survivor and is very very proud of his first medal.
The MINI FART(S) (Kira and Finn split it up between them) were 16 of 61 mixed teams and 139 of 511 including solos, in the Saturday ‘mini’ race.   This was despite Jack and I failing to get Kira back to meet Finn on time, and about 150 people passing him while he was waiting, sorry Finn!
Demelza managed to beat her old man by a minute in the run / rock hop by stealing his ‘push to the front’ strategy to head the Jnr Team  YOUNG FART which came 242 of 754 overall for all starters.  Tim did an especially quick paddle leg (I know that because he went past me like a motor boat at one point).
FART A had Jack doing two legs and came 17 of 61 in the over 40 teams category (217 of 754 overall, so not much ahead of the kids).  Bryan did one of the fastest paddle legs, and David a quick run/hop!
Karen did a good paddle leg despite the injury and strong wind, for another team; and Liz had a great leg(s)…
Steve and I both completed a solo and lived, which we are happy about.  Next year I’m keen on a PAIR since I have found out that you are allowed double skis which are about the most fun thing on the water to paddle
There are a lot more results at  find the mini or main race and search for FART and it finds all our teams.  Steve also has a stats analysis spreadshit (seriously!)
Finally FAT would really like to thanks Mountain Designs in Fremantle who donated us the ‘Swift Tee’ shirts that we all used.  The were light and not sweaty to race in.  Cheers guys.
